Kindergarten Round Up—February 15, 6:00 – 7:00PM

I am excited to announce that Kindergarten Round Up at King School will be on February 15 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.  Children who turn five on or before December 1, 2011 are eligible to attend Kindergarten for the 2010-11 school year. 

At the round up presentation, we'll share important information about the kindergarten year including registration information and information about the kindergarten curriculum.  The presentation is intended for parents, however, you can register for free school aged child care, provided by the King Care staff.  If you anticipate needing the child care option, please note that when you call.

If your child falls into the eligible age range, please do two things now:

1. Call the King School office at 994-1940 to give your child's information.  This will let us know to expect you for the Round Up presentation.  When you call, please also indicate if you'll need childcare on the night of round up.
2. Put Kindergarten Round Up on your calendar.  It will be held in the multipurpose room at King.

Also, if you know of a family who will have a kindergarten aged child for next year (and the family lives in the King School area), please share this information with them.

Kindergarten Round Up Information

Prospective MLK School parents are invited to our annual Kindergarten Round Up presentation on February 17 from 6 - 7 PM. During the presentation, parents will receive information about:

• Kindergarten registration for the 2008-09 school year
• The Half-day Kindergarten and Extended Day Option (EDO) Kindergarten at MLK
• The Ann Arbor Public Schools Kindergarten curriculum

If you need FREE childcare during Round Up, please call 994-4485 to register. The childcare is sponsored by the MLK PTO and the KingCare childcare program.

After Round Up, families are invited back to MLK with children to several school events to help your child continue their transition to MLK School--and to showing their MLK PRIDE! Dates include:

• Thursday, March 19 from 4 - 8:30 PM for the MLK PTO Book Fair in the multi-purpose room
• Friday, April 3 from 6 - 8 PM for the PTO Silent Auction
  
• Thursday, April 28 at 7PM for a concert from the 2008-09 Kindergarten students in the multi-purpose room followed by an Open House in the Kindergarten classrooms with the Kindergarten teachers
• Friday, May 15 from 8:15 - 9 AM for Bagels and Buns Breakfast, a monthly MLK community event in the multi-purpose room
• Friday June 5 from 6 - 8 PM for the MLK Ice Cream Social on the MLK playground

The annual Kindergarten Open House and Music Night will be Thursday, April 24!

Here is the schedule for the night:
6:30 - Open House in your child's classroom (this is for this year's families)
7:00 - Concert
7:30 - Open House for 2008-09 Kindergarten children and families
